We recently stumbled across the Season 6 preview of the HBO series, TrueBlood (http://www.hbo.com/true-blood/index.html) and discovered that our lab coats would be put to the test against vampires and various other creatures in a few upcoming episodes. Perhaps we'll get to see if our coats repel fake blood as well as human blood!

Medelita is redefining lab coats and scrubs.  We reach customers and colleagues through a variety of channels and one of the more engaging mediums is by attending medical conferences.  We set up a lab coat and scrub pop-up store in the exhibit hall at several major medical conferences in the United States.

Radically improving lab coats starts with dramatically improving the fabric.  Medelita lab coat fabric is a proprietary diamond dobby weave which results in a beautiful subtle texture. 

What is a dobby weave?

Dobby weaves are limited to simple, small geometrics which are repeated frequently. Our founder and designer, Lara Francisco created a classic fabric that is soft to the touch, comfortable to wear, durable and drapes more like a suit and less like a smock.  This radical new approach to lab coat fabric is one component that creates a more professional lab coat. This was a tedious process which took considerable time. Countless samples were woven, and then sewn into sample garments, all in an effort to create the very best lab coat fabric. 

After multiple trials using different diamond scales, different yarn deniers, and different quality cotton stuffs Lara finalized our fabric weave many years ago. The original fabric launch in 2008 was essentially a beta version, and since that early fabric, Lara has made considerable tweaks and refinements in an effort to improve on the core attributes of our fabric: softness, comfort, durability and style.

Look for new fabrics from Medelita in the future which will continue to challenge the existing lab coat paradigm.

With a global customer base, the timing isn’t always right for immediate person to person communication.  In response, Medelita’s in-house IT department created a new click-to-chat message feature that has really made a difference for our customers and CSR team. The new feature allows for detailed communication to continue whatever the time zone, giving customers the ability to leave detailed messages about their questions any time of day.   In response, Medelita CSR composes a detailed reply during the next business day (M-F, 8-5 PST).  The new messaging feature is particularly popular on the weekends when customers have the time to read all the ideal features of our professional Medical garments.  Quite often an internet order comes in for those customers shortly after receiving our replies. It’s just another way we are always progressing here at Medelita, achieving improvements in every area of our business, continually.

According to a report published today by the Brookings Institute, "healthcare today represents a higher share of jobs than before the recession struck."  With over 1 in 10 employed people in the top 100 metro areas in the U.S. now working in healthcare,

2013 has been a vibrant year at Medelita and one of the many areas of growth has been with our Medical Group Affiliations.  Over 20 Medical Organizations have become affiliated partners with Medelita so far this year, including National, International, and regional organizations. Affiliation brings synergistic benefits to Medical organizations such as member discounts on Medelita lab coats and scrubs, gift certificates and catalogs for organization conferences, and cooperative website promotions.   We recently invited our organization contacts to discuss some additional benefits available for 2014 and the response has been swift and positive. In the four years since Medelita first began offering affiliation relationships, no organization has decided to discontinue their affiliation status.  The relationship has value to organization members and organizations themselves through creating additional value and membership incentives.
