Celebrating The 2016 National AANP Conference

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), touted as the “largest full-service national professional membership of NPs of all specialties”, will hold its 2016 National Conference this June 21-26, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, in San Antonio, Texas.

Of the multiple conferences AANP hosts each year, including its Health Policy and Specialty & Leadership conferences, the National Conference stands out as it caters to a wide range of topics and NPs of any specialty. As the largest national conference for nurse practitioners, the event features approximately 295 concurrent speaker and discussion sessions, 40 skill enhancement workshops, 300 vendors, and a plethora of networking opportunities with medical peers from around the globe.

Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Dorris Kearns Goodwin will open the conference with an in-depth presentation on political and current events, such as the 24/7 news cycle, social media and Super PACs in the election process. Following speakers scheduled over the next several days of the event include AANP’s MaryAnne Sapio, Vice President of Federal Government Affairs, and Tay Kopanos, Vice President of State Government Affairs.

The conference welcomes nurses of all types, from certified NP members, to students, and even retired NPs. Each session and workshop follows one of nine topical tracks and is appropriately labeled as Advanced Beginner, Competent, Proficient or Expert, so that each attendee can get the most out the the conference, no matter what their nursing experience.

With the theme “NPs on a Patient-Centered Mission,” attendees to the AANP National Conference are sure to learn valuable knowledge on advances in the industry, as well as develop and improve their own personal skills as practicing NPs.
