Lorae Schafer PA-S is studying to be a physician assistant at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Before attending PA school, she studied Behavioral Neuroscience as an undergraduate at the University of San Diego and went on to work as a medical scribe in women's health for 2 years. Outside of medicine, Lorae enjoys traveling, yoga, hiking, and paddleboarding.
In her own words,
"The best part about my job is that I get to learn every day - about my patients, about medicine, and about myself. I get to use that knowledge to make a difference in the lives of my patients and furthering the development of my profession. The biggest challenge of my career in medicine is accepting the fact that I will make mistakes. Embracing imperfection is difficult, but I have come to realize that my mistakes will ultimately push me to be the best medical provider I can be.
To me, appearance is only half of professional style. The other half is a combination of comfort and functionality. I want my clothes to make me look professional and feel good so that I can focus on patient care."
