During March 10th-13th of this year, approximately 400 female physicians, residents, medical students, and pre-medical students will be gathering in South Florida for the American Medical Women's Association meeting. After celebrating their centennial in 2015, members of AMWA have been eagerly anticipating this year's annual meeting to look forward to the next 100 years of successfully representing women in medical professions.
The AMWA was founded in 1915 by Dr. Bertha VanHooven, with a mission to empower women leaders in medicine and support a healthcare model that reflects the unique perspective of women. The organization has local, national, and international levels aimed in coordination to advance women in medicine and improve women’s health. By providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring, and strategic alliances, AMWA is the oldest multispecialty organization dedicated to advancing females working in healthcare.
The keynote speakers at AMWA 2016 include Alice Chen, MD of Doctors for America and Ora A. Pescovitz, MD of Eli Lilly & Company. At this event, attendees will have the chance to network with colleagues, learn about a variety of topics from world-class speakers, and get involved in efforts to promote women in medicine.
