Baylor Health Partners with Dallas Cowboys for New Sports Health Clinic

| Monday, Jul 18, 2016

A huge merger in sports, medicine and public education occurred at the end of last month that could have potentially industry changing implications for all three industries, according to Baylor Health.

The merger came with the onslaught of the Dallas Cowboys new World Corporate Headquarters located in Frisco, Texas.  The facility, known as The Star, will be the first-of-its kind collaboration between an NFL team, a health system and a school district.

Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas with a proven track record of innovation and integrity, has been known for expansive integration. After they formed their own healthcare merger in 2013, they became inspired to combine top notch facilities with first rate administrations.

Together with the Dallas Cowboys and several high schools from the Frisco Independent School District, the new headquarters facilities will include a 200,000 square foot sports medicine facility which will focus on injury prevention, research and wellness for athletes of all levels.

Baylor Scott & White Health will oversee the nine-story facility at the headquarters of the campus, which will be accessible to the public as well as elite NFL superstars.

While this is the first time a healthcare facility will be adhering to the needs of athletes of drastically different calibers in a single location, it is not as daunting a task as one might think. Baylor Scott White currently oversees 48 hospitals, more than 900 patient care sites, more than 6,000 active physicians, and has over 40,000 employees. They have been known for for exceptional patient care for more than a century and this merger is simply the next step for them.

This new organization will be the home of the Cowboys, yes, but it will also be the home and the epicenter for surrounding areas specifically suited for high school teams. A 12,000-seat indoor stadium will be set within the campus made up of two sides. One will be dedicated to high school operations and the other will oblige the needs of the Cowboys.

Many are expecting high levels of interest not only from the state of Texas, but from national and international audiences. The Cowboys Club at The Star, similar to a country club at a golf course, will rest above the practice facility of the Cowboys and has already sold out of all 800 initial memberships.

One of the first and most anticipated events The Star will host, is not an NFL event, but rather a quadruple header featuring all eight Frisco ISD high school teams.

The estimated $1.5 billion facility is predicted to be complete by the first quarter of the 2018 year and will stand as a nationally recognized model for the holistic treatment of athletes.
