Dr. Larry Nichter has been performing Plastic Surgery in Southern California as a triple board certified Plastic Surgeon and as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery since 1985, and consequently has received national and international recognition for both his surgical skills and compassionate involvement with patients and physicians alike. In 1999, Dr. Nichter founded the non-profit organization Plasticos Foundation and began his lifelong missions: performing reconstructive surgery and training surgeons around the world in the treatment of congenital deformities, trauma care, burn and hand reconstruction. Upon his founding of the Plasticos Foundation, Dr. Nichter began traveling to underdeveloped countries and performing surgery free of charge for children with traumatic injuries and correctable deformities. The volunteer medical teams save these children from a life of profound suffering and possible death. Additionally, to ensure that many more children receive care once the mission is complete, Plasticos surgeons train host-country doctors in the art of plastic surgery, to carry on the work. By establishing host-country medical alliances, local doctors are able to multiply impact, fulfilling The Plasticos Foundation's mission to provide reconstructive plastic surgical training and care to those in need, and to advance the field of Plastic Surgery through education and research. Through the Plasticos Foundation, Dr. Nichter has worked with numerous humanitarian organizations and communities in Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Micronesia, Nepal, Palau, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam among others. Dr. Nichter continues to provide passionate care and serve the underprivileged through plastic surgery. To learn more, visit the Plasticos Foundation's website at www.plasticosfoundation.org
