Orange County's Saddleback Memorial Named In 50 Best Hospitals List For Second Year In A Row

"Delivering exceptional, compassionate quality care is part of our DNA and why we are so thrilled to be recognized for all the hard work achieved here day in and day out." says Saddleback Memorial Chief Executive Officer Steve Geidt.

From the massive pool of 4,500 hospitals nationwide, Laguna Niguel’s own Saddleback Memorial has emerged once again and named to receive Healthgrades 2016 America's 50 Best Hospitals Award for the second year in a row. Healthgrades prestigious award merely affirms Saddleback’s exemplary commitment and proactive approach to high quality patient care and health outcomes.

"Once again, I'm so proud to be a part of this outstanding organization, and truly honored to pay tribute to our 3,400 extraordinary physicians, employees and volunteers as well as the thousands of outstanding donors and Saddleback Memorial supporters," said Geidt.

Saddleback’s forward thinking approach, which speaks the language of innovation, is a direct reflection of it’s leadership.

Saddleback CEO Steve Geidt has proven his passion for realizing his vision of high quality patient care and patient outcomes. Though he recently announced his September 2016 retirement, his vision has not slowed, as he’s passing his role on to a very capable successor who is expected to build upon his legacy, Marcia Manker, CEO of Saddleback's sister hospital in Fountain Valley since 2002.

Geidt’s ambitious goals extend beyond his retirement, including inverting Saddleback’s private rooms ratio from 20 percent to 83 percent, adding a second open-heart surgery room, and installing a “hybrid” OR  within the next couple of years.

“[...] it’ll be much more sophisticated than what we’ve had in the past, where we can do more minimally invasive procedures, correct procedures, and the vascular procedures. It’s where the industry is going.” as noted by Geidt.

Saddleback’s medical specialty areas, driven to national recognition under Giedt’s watch, include pulmonology, gastroenterology, critical care, heart failure, heart attack, total knee replacement, hip fractures, coronary interventional procedures, colorectal surgeries and treatment of pneumonia, sepsis and diabetic emergencies.

"It's a great honor to follow in Steve's footsteps at Saddleback Memorial," says Manker. "He is a remarkable leader tremendously respected throughout the healthcare industry and committed to offering the highest quality of care, extraordinary service and an outstanding patient experience at this phenomenal hospital. I'm excited about the opportunity to help lead our Orange County hospitals and look forward to all we can accomplish together to improve the health of our patients and the communities we serve."
